A company vehicle says a lot about a business, especially when it’s regularly used for client meetings or employee travel. Keeping it clean helps maintain a professional brand image and ensures it’s always ready whenever it’s needed.

At KLF Detailing, we recently worked on a 2022 Land Rover Defender 130, owned by Double Eleven LTD in Middlesbrough. The vehicle was booked in for our Deep Clean package, giving the Defender some extra TLC before a trip to Brighton.

Although the vehicle wasn’t in bad condition, it needed an interior and exterior refresh. There were a few signs of everyday use, including mud, dust, crumbs and plenty of bugs on the front end. Our aim was to restore a clean, well-presented finish inside and out.

The Reason for the Booking

We have worked with Double Eleven LTD for several years now, through Mark, one of the company’s directors. We have looked after his Audi S5 and Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo on our 4-weekly Maintenance Plan, ensuring they’re kept in good condition. Every now and then, we also carry out a deep clean on the company car, the Land Rover Defender, to help maintain a clean brand image.

Before working with us, Double Eleven LTD had used other detailers for the company car. Mark then decided he wanted to show the other directors and CEO what a “proper job looks like”. Ever since then, we have been the go-to choice for their valeting needs.

This time round, the Defender was being prepared for a trip to Brighton, so it needed to be clean, fresh and ready for hours on the road.

Initial Vehicle Condition

The Defender wasn’t in bad condition when it arrived, but it had the kind of everyday build-up we would expect from a large, regularly used company vehicle.

The condition included a few bits of mud, some crumbs and dust, along with plenty of bugs on the front end. These are all common issues we see when a vehicle is regularly used.

The main focus was to bring the exterior back to a more presentable standard while also properly refreshing the interior. With a vehicle like the Defender 130, there are plenty of areas where dirt can collect, from the wheels and arches to the interior compartments, carpets and seats. So, a deep clean was the ideal solution.

Exterior Deep Cleaning

The exterior deep clean was carried out carefully to remove road dirt, mud, bugs and bonded contamination from the Defender. As a large company vehicle being prepared for a longer trip, the aim was to give the exterior a thorough reset rather than just a standard wash.

We began with the wheels, barrels and arches, as these areas are often the dirtiest and usually have the heaviest build-up. The engine bay was also cleaned before moving onto the bodywork, which was pre-washed to loosen surface dirt before the contact wash stage.

The Defender was then washed using the two-bucket method, with separate mitts used for the upper and lower sections of the vehicle. This helped reduce the risk of transferring heavier grime from the lower panels onto cleaner areas. Soft bristle brushes were also used around the more intricate sections, ensuring all harder-to-reach areas were cleaned properly.

Once the main washing stages were complete, iron fallout and tar removal were carried out to remove bonded contamination from the exterior surfaces. Snow foam was also used to help neutralise any remaining chemical residue before the vehicle was dried with forced air and towels. A 6-week sealant was then applied to enhance the finish and provide short-term protection, before the tyres were dressed to complete the exterior finish.

Interior Deep Cleaning

The interior also needed a full refresh, particularly because this is a company vehicle used by different people and for different types of journeys. The aim was to thoroughly clean the cabin, remove everyday build-up and leave the Defender feeling fresh before the journey to Brighton.

We started with a full vacuum and dust across the interior, including all compartments where crumbs and everyday debris can collect. This gave us a clean base to work from before moving on to the deeper interior cleaning stages.

The main interior surfaces were then cleaned using agitation, an interior cleaner and steam to lift dirt from the most-used areas. For more delicate surfaces and components, we used a sensitive component cleaner to ensure they were treated safely and with the right level of care.

The seats and carpets were also scrubbed and steam cleaned to remove general dirt and freshen the cabin properly. To finish, the glass was cleaned, leaving the interior looking tidier and much more presentable. By the end of the process, the Defender’s cabin felt much more comfortable for a longer road trip.

The Final Result

Once the deep clean was complete, the Defender looked much sharper inside and out. The exterior had been cleaned, decontaminated, sealed and finished with dressed tyres, giving it a more professional appearance. Inside, the dust, crumbs and everyday dirt had been removed, leaving the cabin fresh, tidy and ready for its next use.

For a company vehicle, this kind of deep clean makes a noticeable difference, especially when it’s representing the business on the road. The team at Double Eleven LTD were really happy as always and said the Defender was immaculate. See our entire process in the video below:

Why Deep Cleaning is Important for Company Vehicles

Company vehicles work harder than people realise. They’re used for everyday commuting, longer journeys, employee trips, and client meetings. Over time, even when a vehicle is generally looked after, dirt can build up in areas that are easy to miss during a basic wash.

A professional deep clean gives the vehicle a more complete reset. Not only is the exterior properly cleaned and protected, but the interior is refreshed in detail. This is especially useful before road trips, important events or whenever the vehicle needs to look its best.

For businesses, looking after a company vehicle also helps to protect their image. When it’s clean and well-presented, it gives a better first impression and shows that attention to detail is important to the organisation.
